Amsterdam Transportation

Branch Earth Trading Company

Europeans are big on bikes. And Amsterdam out does the rest of the continent. Bikes everywhere, including the sidewalks you’re walking on (which in reality are bike paths you’re intruding on). The town even has ‘community’ bikes, you just hop on one and make sure you leave it off at one of the hubs . . . passed on that; all the places we wanted to see were within walking distance anyway. And it’s difficult to eat french fries with mayonnaise when riding a bike (another Amsterdam treat).

Amsterdam Beer

You might think of tulips first, I think of beer . . . guess whose main factory is in Amsterdam? And what better place to spend an afternoon after you’ve been out drinking and smoking all night?

The Tulip Shot

OK, ya knew we had to get to the tulips, right? This is a shot looking out from a restaurant window. Turns out you have to drive a bit to get to where the tulips fields are, and with so many brown cafes to visit, who has time for flower gazing? So this was it for tulip viewing on this trip. Priorities, dude!

The Red Quarter

The infamous Red Quarter (yep, hookers!) and a canal . . . all in one shot! Such talent. As for the red light district, pretty tame. In fact after Bangkok, pretty lame. But there’s always the brown cafes!
