I take a lot of pictures of doors and windows. Don’t know why. In any case, this one is from one of the klongs in Bangkok . . . one of the local used ones as opposed to one of those that they run touri up and down all day. Yep, again, if you want to take a trip down a klong find a private boat and give the guy some extra baht to skip all the touri stops he’d normally take.
Kickboxing is a major pastime for the Thai people. Being Asian, that gambling occurs at the matches helps explain its popularity. Don’t waste your time watching a bout at a local bar, those pale in comparison to the real thing (not that I’d dissuade you from spending time at a bar). The crowd at the event will be almost as fascinating as the bout themselves . . . and go ahead and put up a few hundred baht on the guy you think’ll win; you’ll enjoy the entire evening even more so.
I usually take shots of lotus in Thailand; bougainvillea isn’t that exotic . . . had way too much in Honolulu to tend after to get excited by the vibrant colors anymore. But I wanted a photo of this building in Bangkok and after scouting around for a good angle, liked the composition of this shot.
