The sidewalks of Georgetown are quite narrow and most meander though arched overhangs like these. The paint colors used are vivid . . . and left to peel and crumble, a photographer’s dream: cool colors and unusual textures. Signs are often in Chinese (or maybe this is Malaysian?) and Georgetown’s locals seemed to be predominately Islamic. Often this narrow walkway has been turned into a dining area for a local food stall, which means as a pedestrian you need to walk out into the roadway to continue your journey.
More vivid colors and peeling paint. Lucky you, I’m only posting a few of the window pictures I took in Georgetown. One of my addictions.
Meet Damen. You’ll notice I don’t often post photos of friends, but in this case the colors were too hard to pass by. Plus I threatened to post his photo on my website. LOL. Damen is from Sumatra (Indonesia) and we spent my one full day in Penang wandering about the streets of Georgetown taking photos. Fortunately he was a bit of a camera buff, too (or it gets real boring).
