Bird Street

Branch Earth Trading Company

Bird Street used to be a long narrow hovel on the Kowloon side of Hong Kong filled with birds and cages. Exotic and colorful. Now it is on the Hong Kong side in a park like setting. Still worth a visit, but not as cool as it once was. I’ve no idea what type of bird this is. Its owner had no problem in me photographing his pet but didn’t speak English and my Chinese is limited to the local inflection for Ramada, so who knows?

Kowloon Side MTR Station

When I travel to foreign lands I use taxis most of the time, but will take whatever local version of light rail they have from time to time. Hong Kong’s is the MTR and it’s the cheapest way to get around Kowloon and Hong Kong. This is a shot from the Tsim Sha Tsui station on the Kowloon side. Oh, and Please Que Up!

Rickshaw

Once a primary method of transportation in Hong Kong, rickshaws today are only for touri wanting a quick ride. Better to just take a picture. I mean do you really want this old guy to have to haul your fat ass down the street?

Hong Kong Skyline

Now here’s an unusual shot for me . . . actually shows the city. You might have noticed I do more detail shots than panoramas. But I really liked the ancient looking junk sailing by the busy modern metropolis so I snapped this one while riding the Star Ferry over to the Hong Kong side.
