Orangutan Hands

Visiting The Sepilok Orangutan Center was amazing, even in the rain. I took lots of shots of the apes; this one was cropped down from a shot of two staring at each other. Powerful image, huh?

The Fixings

Sucking on betel nut seems to be a major pastime in Sabah and Kota Kinabalu. This is a photo of the fixings. You roll a nut in a leaf and sprinkle it with lime powder before lodging it in your cheek. The gardening staff I dealt with in Honolulu (from Palau) chewed betel nut all day so I was familiar with both the practice and the red spit stains all over the sidewalks.

Sepilok Orangutan

Another photograph from the Sepilok Orangutan Center. I’ve got a hundred more if you are interested . . .

Sepilok Greens

Just to prove it didn’t rain the entire time I was in Sabah, here’s a shot of a tree fern lit by the sun. Two minutes later, it was raining again.

Back To Ramblings . . .
