Getting a bag of coke from a streeet side vendor is not unusual in Asia. Singapore takes it a step further though and serves up morning coffee in the same manner. It's common to see bags of coffee tied off on bridge raillings and fences, cooling a bit before being drunk. Quite strange considering their laws against chewing gum, jaywalking, spitting . . . you'd think the government wouldn't want plastic bags filled with liquids hanging about the city either . . . go figure.

Bugis Street

Singapore is rather bland compared to other cities in Asia, but they do have some colorful architecture. This is Bugis Street. I'd give you the historical background on the area, but that would distract from its current status as one of Singapore's forty million shopping malls. Seriously, you can spend days at malls in Singapore, travelling from one to the next without ever stepping outdoors.

Hindu Bell

This is a bell on a door of a Hindu temple in Singapore. Hey, I sell bells, so they catch my eye when I'm out travelling! Besides, it made for a more interesting shot than did the rest of the temple.

Singapore's Chinatown

Chinatown lights at night . . . the only area of Singapore that reminds you that you're in Asia. I stayed in this area during the Chinese New Year celebration, which was way cool . . . you should check out the Rambling page about that visit!
